Dr. Guilford is experienced with treating adults and ensuring that your care results in a happy smile.

At Toothbrusher's Dental, we know that many adults are reluctant to be treated because of previous bad dental experiences. We want to break that cycle, providing honest, gentle, and caring treatment for adults.

Avoiding dental work because of past experiences often makes problems worse. Dentistry has progressed a lot and the longer you wait to see a dentist, the more advanced a potential situation will become.

Whether you have an emergency, or simply need a cleaning, you will always be treated with respect and warmth.

Toothbrusher's Dental welcomes children as patients. Dr. Guilford values seeing whole families to build trust and support.

Children are very important to us. We know that from the first time they walk (or are carried) into the reception area, they form impressions of the dentist office that will last a lifetime! We provide family-friendly television or music in the treatment and reception area to make the atmosphere feel more like home.

We always talk with children and to explain what we are doing in terms that a child can understand.

We are so glad you are coming. If you are joining our dental family for the first time, you can plan ahead by downloading the new patient forms. Please print it, fill it out to the best of your ability, and bring it with you to your appointment.

It has come to my attention that many people get dental hygienists and dental assistants confused.  It’s an understandable mistake.  Both perform supportive roles in the office and see patients independently sometimes.  Furthermore in my office, we have more of a team approach and the hygienist and I will sometimes perform the assistants’ duties too. But dental assistants and hygienists do have different tasks that they perform in the office and also have differing levels of training.

In my office, Christin and Shelby are the dental assistants. They prepare the room for treatment, get out all the equipment, and sterilize the room.  They will help the dentist with the procedure, passing instruments and mixing materials and such.  They can take x-rays, impressions, polish teeth, and educate patients on everything from insurance co-payments to oral hygiene.

Kala is our dental hygienist.   She has more specialized in the area of oral care and cleaning teeth.  Kala will remove calculus (or tartar), chart dental conditions, administer local anesthesia, and may work autonomously from the dentist. However, different states have different rules on the level of autonomy.

Most dental assistants will receive a diploma or certificate from a vocational school and the program will last from 9 – 12 months.  Dental hygienists receive a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene.  In Oklahoma, a four year degree is required to be licensed to perform the duties of a dental hygienist.
